The North Carolina General Statutes (NCGS) provide taxing jurisdictions with several collection remedies to enforce collect delinquent taxes. These remedies include, but are not limited to:

  • Attachment and garnishment of funds due to the taxpayer

  • Seizure and sale of personal property

  • Seizure of state income tax refunds and lottery winnings

  • Foreclosure of real estate

The lists below are published to notify taxpayers of delinquent real estate and personal property taxes that are subject to enforced collection action(s).

Top 100 Delinquent Taxpayer List

This monthly list reflects the tax record as of May 2, 2023. Any change in status; such as amount paid in full, active appeal, or bankruptcy will be reflected in the next list. 

Delinquent Taxpayer Publication

This publication lists delinquent taxpayers with prior year delinquent taxes. All totals displayed are current as of Nov. 21, 2022. 

2022 Delinquent Tax Advertisement

By virtue of the authority conferred on me by the laws of North Carolina and the instructions by the Mecklenburg County Board of Commissioners, notice is hereby given that taxes due to Mecklenburg County, City of Charlotte, Town of Cornelius, Town of Davidson, Town of Huntersville, Town of Matthews, Town of Mint Hill or the Town of Pineville, that were placed on the 2022 tax rolls, as shown below, were not paid as of Feb. 28, 2023. Real estate and personal property, including wages and funds owned by the taxpayer, are subject to garnishment, levy (seizure), or foreclosure to collect the tax.

Pursuant to North Carolina General Statutes, the real property owner reflected on the tax records as of the Jan. 6, 2023 delinquent date is listed in this notice.

Reference is hereby made to the tax listing records of the Tax Assessor of Mecklenburg County, North Carolina in the Valerie C. Woodard Center for a more particular description of real and personal property listed.

 

The tax amount shown does not include interest or prior year taxes due.  The tax amount is subject to accrued interest until paid. For the total amount due, including interest, visit MeckNC.gov/paytax or dial 311 to speak to a Customer Service Representative.
